“…to be called an Indian”

I can’t promise to be with you

For I have dissolved the attachments

Of emotions.

Maybe i’ll forget to care for you

For I live in a house of leisure

With pleasure.

Or maybe I’ll leave you in vulnerability

For I have eccentric dreams

Reckless ambitions.

But I give you my word

I’ll remain dressed in the cloth of your cultureĀ

Groomed in the wisdom of your land

And forever will I cherish …to be called an Indian.
